My name is John McKay and I serve as the Treasurer for rungr.com, maintaining our financial records and paying our bills. I have been a member of the group since 2004, joining soon after completing my first River Bank Run. Over the course of the last 5+ years, rungr.com has provided me the direction and support to achieve numerous running goals which would not have been otherwise possible. To this point, I have completed eleven marathons, twelve half marathons, and six 25Ks. Highlights over this period have been two Goofy challenges and my first Boston Marathon in 2009. Far surpassing any competitive results, however, have been the friendships I have made as a member of rungr.com. There is simply no substitute for the accountability, motivation, inspiration, and camaraderie this group has provided. Away from the roads and the track, I work in the banking industry. I also enjoy tennis and an am an avid Spartans fan.

I am currently the membership diretor for RunGR.com. I have been a member for about three years and during that time I have enjoyed making many great running friendships and have also completed my first two marathons. I have been a runner since my middle school and high school days, but I love being part of a group that has reignited my enthusiasm for running.
I work as an Interior Designer at Integrated Architecture and have a passion for sustainable design. I have been married to Mike, a.k.a. "Coach Woj" for four years and we are expecting a baby in April. I love traveling and some of my favorite trips have been to Italy, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Maine and Washington. I like to go camping and kayaking in the summer. I also enjoy cooking, baking, gardening and taking naps in the hammock.

I wear many different hats depending on the day and time. I have been the coach of RunGR.com since 2006. I also coach cross-country and track at Aquinas College. My duties at the college also include the sports information director position. In addition I find some time to work the sales floor at Gazelle Sports. I feel very fortunate and blessed to be able to do what I do. On any given day I get to surround myself with individuals who are trying to better themselves from a health standpoint or a competitive standard.
I'm married to Amorena. We live on the northwest side of Grand Rapids and are expecting our first child in April. A couple of little known facts are that I love working on my yard and my family owned and operated a rabbitry when I was growing up. My running personal bests include: 16:24 (5k), 1:36 (25k) and 2:57 (marathon).

I have served as RunGR's Website Director since January 2009. I am married to David Jorgenson (he doesn’t really like being called Mr. Nye) & hail from St. Joseph, MI. I graduated from Lakeshore High school in 94 and got my Computer Science degree from Grand Valley State University in 98. I currently hold a constantly evolving job in IT.
I didn’t start running until 2002 after a 70 lb weight loss. It started out stoplight to stoplight to shorten up a daily walk, but after a while I was able to run a three-mile loop. I was happy with that for a while. In 2005, my now husband Dave convinced me to run my first 5k, the seaway in Muskegon. It was hot and it sucked, but somehow I got the bug. I immediately decided to run the bridge run in September. I joined run gazelle in January 2006 to train for my first riverbank. And here I am 4 years, 4 riverbanks, 3 halfs, 3 marathons, and countless crazy races later.
When I’m not running, I enjoy Yoga, reading, cooking, trying new foods (as long as it is veggie), and being active in general. I also have the ability to juggle bocce balls. Not that I'm limited to bocce balls; I can do tangerines too!

For the past 10 years, I’ve been working full time as an office manager for Deppe Mold & Tooling, Inc. As a mother of two sons and two grandchildren, I was never athletic (besides throwing a ball around with my boys) and never imagined I would be able to run a marathon. I started running in 2002 after losing weight and finding that walking wasn’t aerobic enough anymore. I ran a few 5k’s that year and decided to join Rungazelle.com in January 2003. Before I knew it, I was running farther and farther and was persuaded into running my first marathon, Chicago Marathon 2003. Since then, I have run 5 marathons (2 of them being Boston) and will be running Boston again in April, 2010. Not only have I reached goals that I never imagined, but have made long time close friendships and probably would have stopped running long ago without their support and encouragement. In the past few years, I have started biking and swimming for cross training and started doing triathlons in the summer months. My recent goal is to complete my first Ironman 70.3 in September, 2010. I have also enjoyed doing yoga for the past 4 years which I found beneficial to my running as well as keeping myself centered in day to day living. My hope is to be able to run for a long time and instill a healthy lifestyle in my grandchildren.
